Compared to a silicone mat, our coffee mat, tamping mat, coffee station, whichever you call it, is worlds apart in terms of size and quality. Our Planetary coffee mat measures 12" x 7" x 1" (350mm x 180mm x 25mm) as compared to the usual being around 8" x 6" x 1/4" (200mm x 150mm x 6mm). It can fit a variety of different sizes of tampers, distributors, scales, portafilters and more. We prefer the ease of cleaning and freedom of placement, so we left the top surface without any indentations. Our Planetary coffee mat also works excellently with tea making as well, the wood acts as a thermal barrier for your glassware or ceramics to prevent heat loss or thermal shock on cold days. We've been using ours for over a year and it's been a game changer for our morning routine and it will be for you too.

Because this product is handmade, there may be small, but minor differences between each product. This product is handmade of wood, which has certain characteristics depending on the species of wood. No two products will be the same, because the wood grain is unique to each piece. American black cherry wood may have black lines and spots throughout the wood. These are naturally occurring mineral deposits and is not a cause for concern. Likewise, eastern hard maple may also have it, but it won't occur nearly as often.
